A Day at Seaworld Indonesia
Julian loved Seaworld Jakarta, the biggest aquarium and oceanarium site in South East Asia. We saw 4,000 fish and 300 species of sharks. We were told the shark pool contains three out of the five most fierce shark species in the world and that once, the shark started attacking the feeding crew. Luckily, the feeding crew was able to escape and survive. However due to this incident, feeding crews are now required to enter a steel cage before entering the shark pool.

The feeding of the piranhas alone was pretty cool too. I preferred watching the hungry group of piranha that cleaned out the fish dangled in the water in just seconds. If you looked close enough you could actually see the fishbones! Hehehe. I couldn't get close enough to take a shot of the row of sharp teeth that tore at fish flesh.

Aaaaaaaaaaargh!

OK sweetie, say "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" while I shovel some raw fish in!

Julian, on the other hand, especially loved watching the dugong feeding on sea grass in its large aquarium as it was fed by the caretaker-divers.

Later, the dugong came up to Julian and appeared to get all friendly! No thanks, we've had lunch!

A whatchamacallit shark cozies up to Julian. Pucker up mahal??? YIKES!!!

The tourguide said that the antinessa tunnel and acrylic viewing windows actually made the marine life look smaller than they actually were.

The touchpools were cool as you could actually feed the animals. They asked us to use sticks to feed the baby sharks and rays (yes, I actually held one) and sea turtles.

Loved this uncertain look on Julian's face. He was probably fearful the pawikan would snap up and eat up his fingers.
